Off Season

I’ve been asked a few times so far if Kauai has an “off season.” And I’ll admit that it’s a hard question for me to answer. Therefore, I have decided to answer it here and now. The answer is: yes and no.

Yes – Kauai does technically have an “off season” if you mean a time when there are fewer tourists that visit. For instance, we get a lot of tourists here in the summer when families don’t have kids in school. We also get a lot of traffic during Spring Break, when college students want to party in a tropical climate. And, strangely, we get quite a bit of holiday traffic, when people want to avoid cold weather and their in-laws. However, during the early fall months and the spring, we have fewer people visiting. So technically, these months would be the “off season.”

No – But Kauai is always lovely and always has stuff going on. There isn’t a week that goes by where events, luaus, festivals, and fun activities aren’t happening on our little island. The temperature of the water is always in the 70s, even in the winter. And the beaches are always beautiful with white sand and crystal clear waters. So technically, there isn’t an “off season,” if you mean a time of year when Kauai is less enjoyable to visit.

See why it’s a hard question to answer? On the plus side, for those of you who want to come to Kauai when there aren’t as many people visiting, you can come in the non-summer months (avoiding Spring Break to be safe). In fact, right now is a great time to come to Kauai. Spring Break has just ended and it isn’t quite summer yet. But it is spring, which means the tropical flowers are blooming, the waters are warm, the people are friendly, and the activities are frequent. Now is the perfect time to come and visit us… in our supposed “off season.” :)
